Botox
Botox vs Facelift
Botox is a purified form of the botulism toxin. It is injected under the skin in small doses and is used to smooth out lines and wrinkles. It works by relaxing and paralyzing some of the facial muscles, so the user’s face appears smoother and younger.
Thanks to the rise in the number of celebrities using botox and the rising number of beauty salons offering the treatment, botox has become very popular in recent years. More people are even holding botox parties, where they get their friends together and invite a qualified beautician to come along to administer the treatment. It is also a quick procedure with many people able to get the treatment in their lunch hour. It can have the same results as a facelift, so why do so many people choose to have botox rather than a cosmetic surgery procedure?
First of all, a lot of people find having botox is not as invasive as having a face lift. The results can also be seen immediately and even though you may be able to see needle marks on the skin, this will usually disappear within a day. When having a facelift you may have to spend days in bandages and put up with bruising, stitches and swelling. However, some people argue that having botox is cheaper and more affordable than having a surgical procedure. The results are only temporary and many will have to repeat the procedure between three and six months later. This may suit some people however, who are only after a temporary lift and do not want to commit to the permanent results of the face lift.
