Cosmetic surgery treatments to prevent excessive sweating
Hyperhidrosis is more commonly known as excessive sweating. Although it is normal for the body to sweat in order to cool itself down, some people may suffer from sweating excessively. It can affect the palms or other parts of the body such as the under arms. This may cause problems in your social and working relationships as you may feel embarrassed to approach people and shake their hands for example. It may also cause more practical problems like staining clothes, which may not be very welcome in a situation like a wedding, for example. So what can sufferers do to combat the condition?
Both men and women can be affected by excessive sweating and it can develop at any stage of their lives. However, many will be relieved to learn that there are plastic surgery treatments available to combat and bring the condition under control.
There are prescription antiperspirants like Drysol and pills like Robinul available. However, if you have already tried these and had no success, you can also have surgery and other procedures to deal with the problem. One option is to have botox injected into the underarm area. The treatment may be uncomfortable but it can provide up to six months relief from excessive sweating. It works by injecting botox into different areas of the armpit.
Sympathectomy is the surgical route people can also go down. It works by damaging part of the nerve supply to sweat glands. As there may be complications involved, this is usually only considered as a last resort option.
