Unhappy With Your Ears? There is a Solution
Feeling self-conscious about your ears is very common. There are many reasons why people can be unhappy with their ears. It could be because they appear to stick out, or because of the effects of wearing heavy jewellery over a long period of time. People who are conscious of their ears can go to great lengths to try to cover them, and it can make certain activities, such as swimming, difficult. Thankfully, there are some cosmetic surgery procedures that can help to correct people’s problems with their ears.
Ear surgery, or pinnaplasty, can correct the shape, size or position of a person’s ear. There are various reasons why people choose to have ear surgery, from aesthetic reasons to correction following an accident or injury. The shape and size of a person’s ears can really affect the way their face looks. Giving a person their ideal ear shape can have a significant effect on their self-esteem.
Pinnaplasty is usually a relatively straightforward procedure. Normally, it takes between 45 minutes and an hour, depending on the nature of the work that is to be completed. Ear pinning, in which the ears are pinned back, can usually be performed under a local anaesthetic, thereby reducing the recovery time. Patients can also see the results of their surgery prior to the stiches being tied. Following ear surgery, patients usually have to wear a head bandage for around 7 days, to allow the ears to heal and protect them while you are sleeping. This is similar aftercare to other procedures, such as breast augmentation.
