botonics, London-based cosmetic surgery specialists who employ some of the most experienced medical professionals in the field, comment on US findings that more men than ever are undergoing cosmetic surgery.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has released statistics which point to dramatic increases in the amount of men undergoing certain cosmetic procedures in recent months. Overall, cosmetic plastic surgery procedures in men were up by 2% in 2010 when compared to 2009 figures. Many different male surgical procedures increased in number significantly, with facelifts for men rising 14% in 2010, while male liposuction procedures increased by 7%.

As a reliable lead-indicator of what happens in the UK, botonics believes that these American statistics offer valuable insight into the future of the cosmetic surgery industry. Explaining the potential cause for the sudden rise in men receiving cosmetic procedures, President of ASPS, Phillip Haeck, commented: “The growth in cosmetic surgical procedures for men may be a product of our aging baby boomers who are now ready to have plastic surgery.”
