Breast Enlargement
When your daughter wants breast enlargement
A huge percentage of teenage girls are dissatisfied with the way they look. Too fat, too thin, too short, too tall, too boyish, or too flat-chested… the possibilities are endless. In some cases, poor body-image can cause serious self-esteem problems and even lead to eating disorders. Needless to say, each of these can have massive negative effects on both mental and physical health.
Many teenage girls also go through a stage of wanting a breast enlargement. If your daughter falls into this category, it isn’t necessarily cause for concern, but all parents should treat the matter seriously. She may merely need to be reminded that all girls develop at different rates and even though some of her classmates are already becoming very curvy indeed, she will probably catch up naturally in the fullness of time.
Any teenager who wants breast augmentation should understand the pros and cons of the surgery – recovery times, the likely scarring, and the final look and feel of her breasts. It’s also important to make sure that there is no hidden reason behind the desire to look different; for example, is bullying at school the cause of her negative feelings about her breasts?
In almost all cases, minors do have to wait until they reach adulthood before undergoing cosmetic breast surgery. The majority of girls will have grown out of the desire by the time they turn 18, but if not, we still discuss the options in depth with every client, and their families or partners if they want to bring someone along for moral support.
