Wrinkle Relaxing Injections
Botox injections are an extremely popular treatment for unwanted wrinkles and lines around the facial area. Botox became hugely popular in the USA in the late 1980s and soon made its way over to the UK where it has also become a widely used beauty treatment.
The name botox is derived from botulinum toxin, which is the toxic substance used in extremely small doses for this cosmetic treatment. In fact botox is also used for therapeutic purposes to treat patients with spasms and dystonias. However it is more commonly known and used as a way to temporarily reduce facial lines and wrinkles for a natural, youthful appearance.
Botox works by relaxing the muscles in the face, which reduces the lines and smoothes the skin. Patients have botox administered around the eyes, on the forehead and around the mouth, which are the areas most susceptible to wrinkles. The affects of wrinkle injections generally last about three to four months, and many patients choose to undergo repeat treatments to keep their lines at bay.
Botox is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure. One of the reasons behind the appeal of botox is its simplicity; it requires no surgery, and needs no recovery time. In fact many people have been known to go and get botox on their lunch break.
Often patients who are adverse to the idea of cosmetic surgery turn to botox as a solution to frown lines, crows’ feet and wrinkles around the corners of the mouth. There is little discomfort, and the procedure usually takes no more than around ten minutes. There are possible side effects which can include swelling, redness, inflammation and tenderness, although these are rarely severe.
At botonics we have extensive experience in cosmetic procedures, and can help you erase those lines and wrinkles with quick and safe wrinkle injections.
