Botox
Solutions for Hyperhidrosis Sufferers
Hyperhidrosis is defined as excessive sweating. This embarrassing problem is actually extremely common, with millions of sufferers around the world. Hyperhidrosis can be caused by various reasons, such as stress, anxiety or any other physiological disorder. However, for sufferers of the condition, there are some cosmetic surgery procedures that could provide a solution for them.
Botox injections have proven to be an effective solution to the problem of hyperhidrosis for many sufferers. The use of Botox blocks the sweat glands in the treated areas. This causes sweating to stop for a period of time. However, this is only a temporary solution. The Botox injections have to be repeated every 12 to 15 months. Botox is not known to have any major side effects. Some patients suffer from mild headaches or bruising following the treatment, but these are easily tolerable. However, Botox is not recommend for pregnant or lactating women, or suffers of certain conditions.
For sufferers that would like a more permanent solution, hyperhidrosis surgery is an option. The most common of which is Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) surgery. During this surgery, an endoscope is inserted into a small incision. The chain of nerves that causes the excessive sweating are then either cut, which is irreversible, or clamped, which is reversible. In most cases, these provide effective results for preventing sweating in specific areas like the hands or palms.
For sufferers of hyperhidrosis, it may seem like an embarrassing problem, but there are effective solutions out there. As with breast reduction, this is designed to enhance quality of life, and curb discomfort.
