Is diet and exercise always enough?

|

Whilst we should all strive to live a healthy lifestyle, sometimes diet and exercise won’t be enough. It can be incredibly demoralising to realise your efforts aren’t paying off and there are simply those times when you want to change a certain part of your body to feel better about yourself, and that’s where plastic surgery can come in.

There are some things gym sessions can’t fix

There are certain issues people face that even the most hardcore gym routine can’t fix, and here are just a few of them:

• Loose skin following weight loss or pregnancy. Rapid weight gain stretches the skin to such an extent that it can’t snap back again – the elastic fibres become damaged, fat tissues can collect below the skin and abdominal wall muscles can become relaxed, particularly during pregnancy, and in all of these cases it won’t be possible to remove the excess skin without surgery.

• Stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to exercise. Sometimes no amount of exercise can shift those stubborn pockets of fat no matter how hard you try, resulting in an uneven silhouette that can’t be solved by anything other than medical intervention.

• The desire for more curves. Whilst exercise can deliver some form of lift to the breasts and buttocks, to truly get those longed-for curves it’ll be necessary to put matters into the surgeon’s hands.

• Gynecomastia. Gynecomastia, or “man boobs”, is something that simply can’t be solved by diet or exercise. Whilst some overweight men develop the dreaded moobs, gynecomastia is a specific condition whereby the client has an abnormal growth of glandular breast tissue – it isn’t just fat, and as such it can’t be removed without surgery.

Treatments to consider

If you’re suffering from any of the above or you want to tackle a specific problem area that’s affecting your self-esteem, there are a number of procedures you might want to consider. Undergoing Vaser treatment can be a great way to target stubborn pockets of fat, for example, whilst abdominoplasty (or a tummy tuck) will be the only way to remove excess skin following dramatic weight loss. Breast implants can deliver those must-have curves whilst a breast reduction could be suitable for men looking to get rid of those man boobs, and liposuction for men and women is an ever-popular technique to get the defined silhouette that’s so desired.

Get the body you’ve always wanted

Of course, surgery shouldn’t be seen as an alternative to healthy living but rather a final touch to ensure you’ve got the body you really want, but the best results will only be achieved on consultation with leading plastic surgeons in London. That’s where we can help. We’ve got years of experience in the cosmetic surgery field and understand how frustrating it can be when your efforts don’t pay off, so if you’re finding diet and exercise isn’t enough or if you’ve got specific problem areas you want to address make sure to get in touch and see if we can help you achieve the body you’ve always wanted.
