Full, high and natural looking breasts are high on the list of desires for many women. Unfortunately, some women are born with a chest that is out of proportion with the rest of their body by being too small or too large. Other women are blessed with a balanced figure, but then lose volume or tone following pregnancy, breast feeding or simple through the ageing process and gravity. Survivors of breast cancer who have had a single or double mastectomy may want to rebuild breasts using their own tissue. Some men develop a condition known as gynecomastia (aka man boobs) which presents as excess fat and glandular tissue in the chest.
All of these concerns have a surgical resolution. To increase the breast size without implants, we have a fat transfer procedure. This involves harvesting fat from another area of the body (e.g. abdomen, back, thighs, backs of the arms, neck/jawline) and injecting it into the breasts. While the increase in size with this technique can be limited to ½ or 1 cup size, the result is completely natural looking and feeling. For a larger cup size increase, conventional breast augmentation using implants either above, below or split muscle technique. For women with larger breasts causing back aches and other problems, a breast reduction may be indicated. If pregnancy, breast feeding and or skin laxity due to ageing have caused larger breasts to droop and sag excessively, a breast lift or mastopexy procedure will both reduce the size and lift the breasts to a higher, more youthful position. For men with gynecomastia, either Vaser Lipo for simple fat removal or a minor surgical procedure to remove glandular tissue if present is the solution.
